Colin McRae Rally 2005 is a car racing simulator, which despite long-term presence in our PC’s. The main advantage of the production is the career mode, in which as an aspiring racing driver slowly gain ranking points and fame in the world racers.
Beginning the game, we start in ordinary competition with two-wheel drive vehicle. After some time, during gaining experience, we have a chance to get access to better cars and prestigious awards. Of course, our dream is to take part in WRC championships, but before we’ll do it, we have beat a long, bumpy road with many tracks. The career consists of up to 23 events, each divided into several smaller sprints, and these divided into stages. To sum up, the realization of this mode will take a lot of time and won't let you get bored even for a moment.
The second mode is equally exciting Championship, which allows you almost immediately to start in coveted WRC contests without going through a smaller events. This option is much more realistic because we spend a lot of time in one country for multiple special stages, while the career throws us for numerous tracks around the world. Additional features is an Time Trial, competition for two players on one PC or network multiplayer mode.
Varied gameplay modes make that we will be hard to break away from the game for many hours. With successive accomplishments, we have a chance for bonuses as participation in an event of historic racing cars. We can’t find time for boredom – we’ll be almost intent by the car modernizations and travel around the world in pursuit of the gold cup.
Controls of the Colin McRae Rally 2005 aren’t enough realistic – it’s far from the simulation of real struggles on the track. Authors put more pressure on mobility, that vehicles rather than stick to the ground more slide on the track. Even though is a bit difficult to play, it somehow became a hallmark of the CMR series. We are here to test the Subaru Impresa, MG ZR and Audi Quattro!
Same driving is not as easy, so for thinking about the victory you’re allowed for a very small margin of error. Wanting to mention the graphics, we must conclude that for times of the creation of the game (2004) it presents sensational, but now in comparison with modern productions, it falls far behind.
To sum up - scenery looks a bit like a junk, but not less has a unique, retro vibes. The arcade driving mode will appeal to fans of the previous parts especially Colin McRae Rally. The game is completely free, therefore nothing stands in the way to download it to your computer and check out behind the wheel of the most famous racing cars in the world.
